Ancestry

Canadian privacy laws lock down historical records for 100 years, limiting family history exploration. Fortunately, the 1931 Canadian census became available on Ancestry in 2023, providing a chance to uncover past stories. But the overwhelming volume of information in the document is challenging to navigate, making it impossible to really visualize what our family’s lives were like.

So, we used AI to bring Canadian history to life by visualizing data from the 1931 Census. By inputting real information into the AI system and leveraging its sophisticated understanding of the Great Depression, we crafted more than just an artistic rendering, but an accurate visual representation of that exact moment in time.
